The 2025 IEEE/Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ) International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2025) was held from 19 to 25 October 2025, in Hangzhou, China, the city renowned as the “Heaven on Earth.” Twenty years after IROS 2006 was hosted in Beijing, the conference returned to China’s mainland centered on the core theme “Human–Robotics Frontier,” with Prof. Hesheng Wang serving as general chair and Prof. Yi Guo as program chair, creating a premier global forum for multidisciplinary, convergent research at the intersection of human–robot collaboration amid unprecedented breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and embodied intelligence. The event was cosponsored by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, the RSJ, and the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers and jointly hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, China Jiliang University, and the Zhejiang Automation Society. This gathering set an all-time record for the highest attendance in the conference’s history, with 8,004 registered participants from 62 countries and regions, 55.77% of whom were students, reflecting the vibrant growth of the next generation of robotics researchers.
