With the goal of expanding access to the International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) for the African community, the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Educational Activities Board supported the organization of Africa’s first RAS conference, ICRA@40–Africa. Held in connection with ICRA@40, the event aimed to formally connect researchers and innovators in robotics from and for Africa, celebrate their contributions, and catalyze future efforts. The conference was hosted at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, from 24 to 26 September 2024 and brought together 50 academics, students, and professionals from universities and organizations across South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, and Ethiopia.
